1. Who needs to sit for the Health Insurance (HI) Examination?
Life and General Insurance Intermediaries and Company Staff Members who are involved in advising and / or selling any Health Insurance products, including Medical Expense Insurance, Disability Income Insurance, Long-Term Care Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Managed Healthcare Insurance will need to sit for the HI Examination.
Note:
Those involved in selling and / or providing advice on hospital income benefits are not required to comply with this requirement, provided that they have obtained passes in the Personal General Insurance [Basic Insurance Concepts & Principles (BCP) and Personal General Insurance (PGI)] or Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services (CMFAS) Module 9 (M9): Life Insurance and Investment-linked Policies examinations.
2. What is the minimum entry qualification required to sit for the HI Examination?
The HI Examination is open to anyone who is interested in sitting for the examination, and there is no minimum entry qualification required. However, passing the examination does not automatically qualify the candidate for the licence. The candidate will need to fulfil the minimum entry qualification requirements as specified by the MAS.

5. What are the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours granted if I pass the HI Examination?
For any candidate who has attended the HI Course at the SCI and who has attempted and passed the HI Examination:
CPD Hours granted for HI Course:
18 CPD Hours (LIA) & 21 CPD Hours (GIA) (50% Knowledge; 50% Skills) will be granted for the 21-hour HI course (participants must achieve at least 75% attendance.)
CPD hours granted for HI Examination:
An additional 1.25 CPD hours will be accorded for any candidate who has passed the HI Examination.
For any candidate who has sat and passed (on self-study basis) the HI Examination:
CPD hours granted for HI Examination: 1.25 CPD hours per subject passed will be granted.
